A poviat is a unit of local government and a second-degree administrative division. Nowosol County is located in the south-eastern part of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. It covers the city of Nowa Sól, which is the seat of the district and the communes: Bytom Odrzański, Kożuchów, Nowe Miasteczko, Kolsko, Nowa Sól, Otyń and Siedlisko. The area of the district is 717 square kilometers, with a population of 85,000. inhabitants. As a local government unit, it carries out public tasks, including educational ones, and is the managing body for 5 secondary schools, including the Vocational and Continuing Education Center "Elektryk" in Nowa Sól.
As part of the district's activities, a number of projects have been implemented over the last 7 years, the aim of which was to improve the level and learning conditions for students, but above all, to adapt the vocational education offer to the needs of the labor market:
-Modernization of vocational education in Nowy Sól County - a project implemented in 2016-2023, the aim of which was to integrate vocational education with the labor market. Approximately 1,750 students from 8 vocational education institutions in the district took part in the project. Project activities included, among others: courses, workshops and internships, as well as career counseling;
-Modern vocational school - modernization of vocational education in Nowy Sól County - project implemented in 2017-2021. The aim of the project was to improve educational conditions, leading to an increase in the level of education and qualifications
and adapting skills to the needs of the labor market in the Nowa Sól district
As part of the project, two vocational education facilities were modernized and equipped: the Vocational and Continuing Education Center "Elektryk" and the Secondary School Complex No. 4 in Nowa Sól. Design activities were supported by the following directions: electrical technician, mechatronics technician, IT technician, device technician
and renewable energy systems, as well as tourism service techniques and nutrition and catering services techniques.
-Together for the borderland - improvement of educational infrastructure and development of cross-border competences - project implemented in 2018-2023. The project was implemented in partnership with the Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) from Forst (Germany). The aim of the project was to expand the cross-border educational offer in the field of vocational training, adapted to the needs of the labor market in the area of support of the INTERREG VA Brandenburg-Poland Cooperation Program 2014-2020. As part of the project, the building of the Vocational and Continuing Education Center "Elektryk" in Nowa Sól was modernized and equipped. The following fields of study were supported: electrical technician, mechatronics technician, renewable energy technician (including passive and energy-saving construction).
-Young craftsmen together for the borderland - development of cross-border competences - project implemented in 2021-2023. The project was implemented in partnership with the Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) from Forst (Germany). The aim of the project was to enrich the educational offer in the field of vocational training, taking into account changes in the consumption model and opportunities for the development of service and craft professions, adapted to the needs of the labor market in the support area. The project supported the fields of logistics techniques, nutrition techniques and catering services at the Secondary School Complex No. 4 and the hairdresser and motor vehicle mechanic at the Secondary School Complex No. 2 in Nowa Sól. As part of the project, part of the building was modernized and the warehouse management workshop at the ZSP was equipped. No. 4, and the hairdressing and car mechanics workshop at ZSP No. 2 was equipped.
